After what has seemed a lifetime of discussions and debate by the opensourcematters team, we have finally decided on, and launched to the community, the name of the new CMS on the block;

Joomla!

The name Joomla! is a phonetic spelling for the Swahili word “Jumla”, which means “all together” or “as a whole”. It was chosen as the entire Mambo team was unanimous in their commitment to protecting the interests of the creators and community, which was the true cause for the success and acclaim earned by that project.

A little bit of cheating there, as I cadged that quote directly from mambofrog as he's somewhat better at wordsmithing than my humble self :)

This is an important step in our evolution and means that the serious work  of coding, bug squashing and development really begins.  Come join the party and help make this the success we believe it will be.
