Moving onwards and upwards

ImageThis site has been left static, and gathering a fair amount of dust, for longer than is anything reasonable.  Unfortunately my time for doing Joomla development has been few and far between and as such I have just left this site as a holding location for the modules and mambots which I had coded and may have proved useful to the Joomla community.

However, Joomla has moved on far far beyond what I had created my little bits of code for, and as such I think that this site, as it stands currently, no longer serves a useful purpose and I need to decide in which new direction I will move it.

There are a number of things I am doing in the background, such as Joomla Clustering and other opensource developments which I think will provide the basis of the new site and hopefully be of use to somebody... anybody...

As I have mentioned before this will probably be developed in my own unique timescales, but do visit on the occassional basis to see what has been changed ;)

RocketTheme Site Of The Month
Friday, 28 July 2006

Site Of The Month AwardWe won!  The guys over at RocketTheme.com have awarded troozers.com the very first "Site Of The Month Award", as can be seen by the lovely rosette now proudly adorning this site :)

The award is given to RocketTheme template developed sites, nominated by the members and judged by the panel on how well it's been implemented and developed.

Special thanks also goes to Jacob Hodara of jh-design for modifying the Internet Gazette template to my particular tastes and making it more 'trooz-centric'.

Once again many thanks for the award guys.

Resignation
Saturday, 15 July 2006

letter from troozersNot entirely sure why it hasn't appeared on joomla.org, but the sad news is; as of early June I have resigned from the Joomla development team.

Now before any conspiracy theorists decide on the where, the when and more importantly the why  I resigned, I will give you the brief version; Time.  As some may have noticed from the CHANGELOG's, my input into the development and maintenance of Joomla! has been woeful for more months than is in anyway reasonable.

This has been mainly due to work, family and other commitments that I have.  With this in mind, and knowing of the loads of quality developers now in Joomla, I decided that this would be as good a time as any to formally resign from the project.

And that's it!  No disagreements with any of the team members or direction of the project.  Just a simple lack of available time.  I will of course still be maintaining troozers.com and continue producing mambots, modules and components in my own unique timescales plus providing any help that I can to the Joomla! project, which I am still passionate about.

Onwards and upwards :)

RocketTheme Template Club
Wednesday, 22 March 2006

RocketTheme TemplatesAs some of you are aware, the template now gracing troozers.com is a modified "Internet Gazette" template created by those artistic fellows over at Rocket Theme.  To celebrate this, and to also point you in the direction of one of the best Joomla! Template Clubs out there, we have added RocketTheme to our list of Partner Sites.

Click on the banner above, have a browse at their professional templates and join up.  A small annual fee will gain you access to all of their templates - including all of their past ones.  That adds up to a wide choice which you can download, and download again as much as you want.

Start of something new

troozers bannerAs you can hopefully see, I have updated the look of troozers.com in preparation for some of the newer, more technical articles.  I am just putting some final spit-and-polish to the "LAMP Installation" article, and ensuring that all the information is correct and geared towards Joomla!

I have also started talks with some other guys, who wish to help take over some popular components and modules whose development has either stopped or stalled for various reasons.  The fruits of which should be seen soon.

A new banner has been created by JH-Design to display proudly on your site if you want :)
